About Joe

Joe Persia holds a M. Sc. In Education, a B.A. in H.R. Training & Development, and is a former PhD student with SUNY at Buffalo in their faculty of Education – School of Learning & Instruction.  He’s accumulated over thirty years experience in education, and his diverse instructional background includes teaching positions in post-secondary Economics in addition to those from Grade 8 right on down to Kindergarten where he spent the majority of his teaching career.  Currently he works with special needs children living with developmental, communication, and learning exceptionalities.

Having acquired both a Kindergarten Specialist, and a Reading Specialist designation, he became fascinated with the process by which we acquire the skill set necessary to navigate the world of print and learn to read.  He continues to believe that this “toolkit” or “skill repertoire” once acquired, is among the most taken for granted abilities we have

With extensive reading and longitudinal research learning behind him, it soon became clear to Joe that the academic course charted for children, as well as it turns out – their long-term health trajectories are largely the result of a mindset forged and tempered by early life, and psychosocial experiences during the formative years.

Fertile ground for his continuous inquiry, and learning in this field continues to be the Early Learning Kingdom of a Kindergarten classrooms and elementary schools where he now brings his self-regulatory philosophy and play-based pedagogy to life.

About Cognitive Dynamics

Cognitive Dynamics offers both child and adult centered programs and opportunities to enhance wellbeing, health, and contentment.  The workshops, webinars and presentations made available will assist in the development of one’s ability to understand and deal with the everyday variations in energy and tension levels.  Levels that so often portend reactions/responses that may not reflect the true message we would like our actions to convey.

As a means of communication, behaviour in and of itself is all too often a language that is misinterpreted. An interpreter, especially one well-versed in Shanker Self-Reg®, can help you translate the hidden messages to better understand the difference between poor choices, and “non-choices.”

Training and development sessions range from 1-2 hours, half-days, whole-days, and/or entire series.  They also provide for follow-up and further mentoring to meet individual, group, an/or organizational needs.
