About Joe

Joe Persia is an elementary school Principal, with extensive training in Shanker Self-Reg®.  He holds a M.Sc. In Education, a B.A. in H.R. Training & Development. As an elementary school administrator, he’s accumulated over thirty years experience in education, and his diverse instructional background includes teaching positions in post-secondary in addition to those from Grade 8 right on down to kindergarten where he spent the majority of his teaching career.  His move into an administrative role, followed his work with special needs children living with developmental, communication, self-regulation, & learning exceptionalities.

Evidence of his belief in life-long learning, Joe continues to further his learning and understanding of neuroscience, cognition, well-being, and resilience.  With vast reading, action-research, professional/personal reflection as part of his personal & professional repertoire, it has become clear to Joe that the course charted for children as well as young adults and their long-term trajectories, although flexible, are continuously shaped by the co-regulatory relationships in their lives. This also holds true for each and everyone of us.  Joe strives to establish conditions that serve as fertile ground for optimal self-regulation and co-regulation.

Joe is currently very active on his school district’s Self-Reg Steering, and Staff Wellness Committees.

About Cognitive Dynamics

Cognitive Dynamics offers both child and adult centered programs and opportunities to enhance wellbeing, health, and contentment.  The workshops, webinars and presentations made available will assist in the development of one’s ability to understand and deal with the everyday variations in energy and tension levels of imbalance in our psychophysiology.  Levels that so often portend reactions/responses that may not reflect the true message we would like our actions to convey.

As a means of communication, behaviour in and of itself is all too often a language that is misinterpreted. An interpreter, especially one well-versed in Shanker Self-Reg® and its companion neuroscience, can help you translate the hidden messages to better understand the difference between poor choices, and “non-choices.”

Training and development sessions range in duration and can be in-person, or online.  They also provide for follow-up and further mentoring to meet individual, group, an/or organizational needs.
